Android Auto not working is a real pain for cars using it to run their dash screen. It’s really easy to pair this system with your car, which will then allow you to safely access your phone and be able to use many apps that could make your journey better. But, what should you do when Android Auto not working? Let’s talk about it.

There are a lot of reasons that Android Auto is not working; a bad connection can cause issues, as well as your car or Android device not being compatible with the app. You could have corrupted the app or your Android Auto might be trying to connect to a different vehicle. Both of these can cause issues. Either way, you will want to try and fix the problem.
There are a few things you can do to help you figure out the problem. The first thing you want to do is ensure that your vehicle and car dashboard are compatible with Android Audio.
There is a compatibility page for Android Auto on their website, where you can find your specific car and stereo to ensure they are compatible. If they are, then there is an issue – if they are not compatible, then you won’t be able to make Android Auto work.
Try Restarting – Android Auto Not Working
Next, you will want to try restarting your android device. A restart, turning it off and on again, is a really simple way to clear out any minor issues and retry the connection. It is quick and easy to do and often does the trick in fixing smaller issues within the app, car, or stereo.
When having trouble with Android Auto, and using the app with more than one car, you may want to check your pair car settings. Android Auto could be trying to connect to a different vehicle.
You can also take this time to see if you have made a mistake and added your car to the Rejected Cars list or turned off the option to add new cars to Android Auto. Checking on these settings can be a good place to look next.
If Android Auto is still not working, you will want to check your connections. Ensure if you are using a cable, that the cable works and is connected properly. If you are using a wireless connection, ensure it is connected to the right car and that the connection is stable.
You can check to make sure both your phone itself and your Android Auto app are currently up to date, as older operating systems or outdated apps can cause the app to not work the way it should. You can go to your list of apps and hit update apps, to ensure that everything is up to date on your device.
At this point, you’re probably getting pretty frustrated with Android Auto, so it might be best to clear your cache on your Android Phone. Temporary files can interfere with the Android Auto app. You can do this by going to your Settings, then selecting Apps, then Android Auto, then Storage, then Clear Cache.
If this still doesn’t fix it, you should uninstall and reinstall the Android Auto App. If the app has become unstable, for any reason, reinstalling it should give you a fresh go at connecting this up to your car. If you are still having issues with Android Auto, you should send a report to Help and Feedback in the App Menu. It can take a while to get a reply, but at this point, you have tried everything and need further help.
