In a recent stream, xQc unlocked the super rare heirloom shards on Apex Legends and had no idea what they were for.
As an endlessly playable experience, Apex fans love to express their gun skills with flare with the game’s many cosmetic skins. The seasonal battle pass comes with limited time skins for Legends, weapons and banners. But the most prestigious of cosmetics is Apex’s heirlooms.
These are items only a handful of Legends have so far, and all are unique to their owner. Octane has a boost-filled butterfly knife, Pathfinder has a set of blue boxing gloves and recently Revenant got himself a nasty looking scythe.
These are easily the most sought after cosmetics of the game, but funds are hard to come by. Heirloom items can only be bought with heirloom shards. Seems simple enough, but heirloom shards have a drop rate of 1 in 500 Apex Packs. This means you either have to play an awful lot of the game or spend a ridiculous amount of money on packs to be in for the chance of just one.
What Are The Chances?
Hilariously, Twitch streamer and former professional Overwatch player xQc was streaming Apex Legends when he received heirloom shards in a pack. The streamer screamed as he saw the explosive red beams bursting from the pack. However, as the shards were revealed the streamer calmed, with a clear look of confusion.
“What do I do with heirloom shards?” he eventually asked the chat. Little did he know he had stumbled across the extremely rare currency.
Apex Legends news channel @alphaINTEL then posted about the incident in jest.
Hopefully, we can all stumble across heirloom shards with ease, just as xQc did. I’m pushing 300 hours on the game without a whiff of them, but it’s good to see that somebody is getting them.
