This Company Will Pay $200K To Put Your Face On A Robot

A company is looking for a face to put on its robot, and you could be paid $200k if yours is friendly enough.

The company is called Promobot, and they want faces to use on robots currently being developed. These robots will start “activities” in 2023.

Here’s what its press release says: “seeking a face for a humanoid robot-assistant which will work in hotels, shopping malls and other crowded places. The company is ready to pay out $200,000 to somebody willing to transfer the rights to use one’s face forever.”

If you don’t mind the sound of your face being used forever by corporations, this might be right up your alley.

Promobot is considering people of all genders and races over 25. However, you must a face that is “kind and friendly” enough for them. Sorry to all the grumpy people out there, looks like the $200K is off the table.

Robot Look-Alikes

The company previously tried to make a robot using Arnold Schwarzenegger’s likeness. They promptly got sued for $10 million by him.

“Arnold Schwarzenegger will meet your guests, turn on the light and turn the kettle on” claimed Promobot. Schwarzenegger disagreed, and sent them a cease and desist letter. He didn’t give them permission to use his face, claiming it “diminishes his hard-earned and well-deserved reputation as a major motion picture star.”

At least the company is asking for people’s permission now, although it does sort of creep me out. Actually, it creeps me out a lot.
