Amazon has released the first trailer for its upcoming Lord of the Rings TV series which is dropping on Prime Video later this year.
The trailer showcases what appears to be canyons of mist being filled with pools of molten lava. The trailer then transforms to show that we’re not actually looking at a canyon but instead groups of letters being filled with the molten substance.
It then hardens to reveal the words “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” as well as a quick promo for Amazon Prime Video. You can watch the trailer in its entirety below.
So there isn’t a lot to go from right now, but it’s exciting nonetheless. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power begins airing on Prime Video on September 2nd, 2022. So you still have quite a while to go until we can watch this on our television screens.
“Set in the Second Age of Middle-earth, thousands of years before the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters as they confront the re-emergence of evil in Middle-earth.” reads an official summary of the show’s premise.
It’s likely the plot will concern the original rings that were forged among men, elves and dwarves in the Second Age. Sauron will most likely be the show’s main villain.
