Star Wars: Battlefront is, in all fairness, an impressive game. In terms of gameplay, it’s a blast. In terms of visuals, it’s revolutionary. In terms of general polish to the final product, it passes. But like so many others before it, and so many others to come, Star Wars: Battlefront still manages to fail in one of the most important areas that matter – content.
Games like Destiny and The Division come to mind. Broken promises of endless replayability, hundreds of hours worth of content. That’s not even the biggest problem; the content afforded to us by developers is fine, most of the time. The biggest issue is the fact that these promises were made to be begin with.

With Battlefront, we were promised so much more than we got. Where we were promised, incidentally, endless hours of enjoyment and fun out of the game, we received so little content that it became repetitive and boring almost immediately. Some mechanics fell short of what was anticipated, too – but the gameplay is, for the most part, solid. Crazybrit96 sums it up pretty well.
Star Wars: Battlefront is fine. It’s just not what we were promised. What if, theoretically, EA could fix that?
Well, maybe they will. Thanks to Reddit user uninspired zebra, fans of the franchise could be in for a treat not long from now, with new offline single-player content not long over the horizon. In the video below, uninspired zebra shows off a new “Instant Action” menu hidden deep within the files of the game.

The single-player addition will come in the form of two new game modes, “Walker Assault”, and “Fighter Squadron”. You’ll be able to dive into both either alone or with a friend; and you’ll be glad to know that each mode spans several missions.
New weapons and skins are apparently on the way too – slated to go hand in hand with the new single-player mode? According to Express, we can expect two new weapons, the “CJ-9 Bo-Rifle” and the “Stinger Pistol”, the former of which is semi-automatic, and offers a new melee attack. We can also look forward to a new “Cybernetic Female skin”.

Should we be excited? Maybe. I’d remain skeptical until we hear something of the more official variety, and even then, who knows if it’ll live up to what’s promised. Come its release, we’ll know for sure.
And until then, we’ll always have the Infinite Warfare space battles to look forward to, right? Right…
