There’s a new Tomb Raider game in development over at Crystal Dynamics, and it’s being built using Unreal Engine 5.

The game will be developed within Unreal Engine 5 and will be the fourth game in the reboot series of Tomb Raider. Dynamics worked on Tomb Raider (2013), Rise Of The Tomb Raider (2015) and Shadow Of The Tomb Raider (2018). It also currently has a team working on a brand new game in the Perfect Dark franchise.

A statement from the studio reads: “Crystal Dynamics is incredibly excited about the future of Unreal and how it will help us take our storytelling to the next level. That’s why we’re proud to announce that our next Tomb Raider game is being built on Unreal Engine 5. Our goal is to push the envelope of fidelity and to deliver the high-quality cinematic action-adventure experience that fans deserve from both Crystal Dynamics and the Tomb Raider franchise. We can’t wait to take this journey together.”

The director of Days Gone, Jeff Ross, has also joined the team working on the new Tomb Raider, stating: “I’m excited to announce that I now work at the amazing Crystal Dynamics as Design Director. That’s all I can say other than I’m thrilled with the project, and especially the team of really wonderful people.”
