Idris Elba has been a highly-requested name for the next James Bond for a while, and now the studio behind the films have said he’s part of the conversation.
“No Time To Die” marked Daniel Craig’s last outing as James Bond, and now one of Hollywood’s biggest roles is up for grabs. However, it’s unknown who will end up replacing him as the iconic agent.
But one actor who has been highly-requested by fans is Idris Elba. Many seem to think he would make an excellent Bond, and he would be the first black actor to take on the role.
“Part Of The Conversation”
On a podcast, Bond producer Barbara Broccoli said, “We know Idris, I’m friends with him. He’s a magnificent actor.” She went on to say Idris Elba has “been part of the conversation, but it’s always difficult to have a conversation when you have somebody in the seat.”
Perhaps now that Daniel Craig’s last outing has passed, the hunt for the next Bond will be ramping up. It’s very possible that Elba is chosen for the role, especially now that we know he’s in the conversation. However, without confirmation we can’t say for sure whether it’s going to happen.
Although Elba would make an excellent secret agent, some think he’s too old for the role – he’s 49-years-old currently. Meanwhile, Daniel Craig is 53 years old after doing five whole films since Casino Royale in 2006. An older Bond isn’t out of the question though, and there’s no doubt he would offer a lot to the role.
Tom Holland is another actor that’s been touted to play James Bond. However, Holland tips towards the younger end of the spectrum. Apparently he pitched an idea for a Young Bond movie to MGM, but was ultimately turned down.
