There are a few reasons that you may be trying to figure out how to reset Ring Doorbell. You might be getting rid of your current Ring, which means wiping all of its data and resetting it is key.

Follow the simple instructions below for the relevant Ring model to learn how to reset Ring Doorbell back to factory settings with a clean slate:

How to Reset Ring Doorbell

Ring First Generation

  • Step 1: Unscrew the screws from the bracket and remove your doorbell from where it is on your wall.
  • Step 2: Locate the orange set up button on the back of the device.
  • Step 3: Press and hold the orange button for about 10 seconds.
  • Step 4: The light on the front of the Ring Doorbell will begin to flash. Wait until the light has turned off, and then your device has been reset.

Ring Second Generation

  • Step 1: Unscrew the screws from the bracket and remove your doorbell from where it is on your wall.
  • Step 2: Locate the orange set up button on the back of the device.
  • Step 3: Press and hold the orange button for about 10 seconds.
  • Step 4: This doorbell will then enter Setup mode when the reset is complete, looking to reset.

Ring Doorbell 2

  • Step 1: Unscrew the screws from the bracket and remove your doorbell from where it is on your wall.
  • Step 2: Locate the setup button on the top right of the device, just below the camera. Most doorbells will have this as an orange dot.
  • Step 3: Press and hold the setup button for about ten seconds.
  • Step 4: The light on the front ring of the doorbell will flash for several minutes. You must hold the button until the light turns off, indicating that the reset is complete.

Ring Video Doorbell 3, 3 Plus and 4

  • Step 1: Unscrew the screws from the bracket and remove your doorbell from where it is on your wall.
  • Step 2:  Locate the setup button on the top right of the device, just below the camera. Most doorbells will have this as an orange dot.
  • Step 3: Press and hold the setup button for about ten seconds.
  • Step 4: These doorbells will then enter Setup mode when the reset is complete, looking to reset.

Ring Wired Doorbell, Doorbell Pro, Doorbell Pro 2 and Doorbell Elite

  • Step 1: Unscrew the screws from the bracket and remove your doorbell from where it is on your wall.
  • Step 2: Locate the setup button on the right-hand side of the doorbell. This button will most likely have an orange dot. On the Ring Doorbell Elite, the setup button is in the right top hand corner, above the camera specifically.
  • Step 3: Press and hold down the setup button for about ten seconds.
  • Step 4: These doorbells will then enter Setup mode when the restart is complete.

You may then need to remove the device from your Ring app, through the Settings (Gear) Icon, then Device settings, and general settings and remove this device. After that, your device is ready to go onto its next owner.
