How To Block Websites On Android

When it comes to blocking websites on Android, this isn’t a built-in feature for browsers. If you are looking to monitor and block your kids’ mobile uses, using Google Family Link is the best way to go.

This will allow you to track what they are doing and disable any websites that you do not feel are appropriate. If you do not want to track what your child is doing and would rather give them the privacy, but still want some more inappropriate websites blocked, you should consider a browser add-on to a browser like Firefox.

  • Step 1: Uninstall other browsers from the device, leaving only Firefox.
  • Step 2: Open up Firefox, then tap the three vertical dot menu at the bottom, right-hand corner of the screen. Select Add-ons, then LeechBlock NG, then the +. This is the browser add-on we will be using and is recommended on the device.
  • Step 3: Once you have added this extension, you can then tap Settings and start adding sites there you want to block.

LeechBlock is limited to 30 sites to block, you can either block websites domains individually or specific words that you do not want your child to see. Blocking specific words will then block websites that contain those words from view. You can also, in settings, set up how long you want to have sites blocked, in case you just want to block gaming websites while your child is meant to be doing homework.

Once you have set up this app, it’s simple to ensure that any inappropriate websites are blocked. If you are using Google Link, the process is just as simple as creating an account, adding a phone or tablet to your account, and setting up the settings for what you want to monitor or block. Hopefully, this helps you keep more control over your devices.
