PlayStation 4 owners might be in for a treat if the rumors about the early release of Grand Theft Auto 5 prove to be true. According to various sources, the game will be released on the PS4 two weeks before
its official launch on the Xbox One. The same rumors speak about a huge GTA 5 download size, possibly causing problems for several PS4 owners.
According to the official information published by the game’s developer, Grand Theft Auto 5 will be released on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 18th, while the PC version is expected to be launched in January 2015. But a leaked product page shows that the release date for PS4 has been pulled back to November 4th, the date when Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will be released. Sony and Rockstar Games, the developer behind the GTA series, were always in a good relationship – this early release might be the result of that.
Don’t get too excited about the early release, though – the screenshots circulating around the web might contain obsolete placeholder information. Still, if they prove to be true, they will mean an unexpected treat for PS4 users.
The download size revealed in the same screenshots might prove scary for several users. The PS4 has a 500GB hard drive in it, enough to store loads of games – but the fifth edition of Grand Theft Auto will take up 10% of that. Yes, its full HD graphics, amazing sounds and gameplay will come in a whopping 50 gigabyte package. PS4 owners who took advantage of PlayStation Plus, including the loads of free games that come with it, might find themselves in the situation to be forced to delete some of their games just to free up space for GTA. The download size might cause similar problems on the Xbox One as well, that also comes with a 500GB storage space, but it has the advantage of supporting external hard drives, so its users can avoid to delete their favorite games to free up space.
There won’t be a problem with saved games, though – both consoles store their saved games in the cloud.
Grand Theft Auto 5 will be released for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in November (up to this point November 18th is the official release date, but for PS4 it might be November 4th). The game will come with Grand Theft Auto Online, a free bundled multiplayer experience, plus some in-game cash to buy items – weapons and vehicles – in the game.
