Gran Turismo 7 revving up for 2014 launch on PS4

GT6  launch is just around the corner and yet Gran Turismo developer Polyphony Digital is already planning  the seventh game in the series for 2014.

Polyphony CEO and mastermind Kazunori Yamauchi expressed his hope for a faster release to the  Top Gear team.

“We don’t want to take too long on Gran Turismo 7. Best-case scenario? Next year,” he said.

At first this might seem like an arduous task at hand, looking at the past history of time frames required by the prequels – four years between GT3 and GT4, five years between GT4 and GT5, and three years between GT5 and GT6. But Mr. Yamauchi insists that the development time span was due to the hardware restrains.

“In GT6 we really had to tune the software 100% to maximize the PS3′s architecture,” he said.

“But of course the PS4′s hardware is much better, so I think the overall quality of the game across the board will be boosted when you come to play it.”

Gran Turismo 6 is releasing exclusively for PlayStation 3 on December 6, 2013.
