Most people with Android phones will have never booted their device up in Android recovery mode, as it’s just not needed, but if your device is frozen, stuck in a boot loop, or has a major issue with an app and cannot reach settings or even has malware, you can use recovery mode to help you out.
Android Recovery Mode
It is worth noting that booting up Android Recovery Mode is different depending on the device that you are currently using, so you will need to follow the steps for that specific device. If your phone is not listed below, you should check the manufacturer or carrier’s website for instructions there.

- Step 1: With your device turned off, hold down the Power and Volume down buttons at the same time, for a few seconds.
- Step 2: Let go when a triangle with an exclamation point appears on the screen. Then use the Volume Down button to find Recover Mode in the options.
- Step 3: Press the Power button to select it. You should, after a few seconds, see the Android mascot on its back on the screen, with the words No Command.
- Step 4: Press and hold the power button and press the Volume Up button once, then let go.
- Step 5: You should now have opened the recovery menu. You can use the Volume buttons to highlight your options and the Power button to select them.
Motorola Phones – Android Recovery Mode
