Sony has upped the ante in the war of the consoles by producing a next generation console which looks much more promising than its counterpart manufactured by Microsoft.
The PlayStation 4 has almost floored the Xbox One, be it game-wise or add-ons or facility-wise. Here is our pick of 6 reasons why the PS4 is better than the Xbox One.
1. No mandatory camera
To play games on the PS4, you do not necessarily require the PlayStation Eye. It is an accessory, the choice to use which depends on the gamer. However, on the other hand, the Xbox One requires the Kinect in order to play each and every game. Games don’t start in the absence of a Kinect.
You do not rejoice the feeling that someone is watching you all the time, do you? That is why PS4 is way better.
2. Cost
While the PS4 is being priced at $399, the Xbox One has a price tag of $499. This substantial price difference will go a long way in attracting gamers who are getting the same specs at a much lower price in the PS4. This in turn will provide a huge boost to the sales of the PS4 at launch as gamers will definitely prefer the cheaper version.
Price matters. A $100 difference cannot by any means be ignored. The PS4 scores in this aspect.
3. PS4 global launch likely at release
The PS4 is most likely to have a global release at launch, as judged from the fact that Sony is targeting a simultaneous launch of the PS4 in India alongside other European countries. On the other hand, Microsoft has announced that the Xbox One will be releasing in only 21 countries at launch.
If PS4 global launch becomes a reality, Sony is all set to capture the global market, leaving the Xbox One far behind in terms of sales and popularity.
4. GPU power
The PlayStation 4 has a significantly high GPU power compared to the Xbox One which amounts to about 50% more. The PS4 uses 8GB of GDDR5 memory with a bandwidth of 176GB/sec as opposed to the Xbox One with its 8GB of DDR3 RAM.
Better processing power results in seamless gameplay and better graphics. The core is what matters for hardcore gamers.
5. Support for Indie games
Sony endeavors in providing smaller, unique gaming experiences to the PS4. As many as eight indie titles debuted during Sony’s press conference at E3 2013. The Indie games that debuted for the PS4 included Transistor, the next game from Bastion developer Supergiant Games; Klei Entertainment’s Don’t Starve; Tribute Games’ Mercenary Kings; Octodad: Deadliest Catch from Young Horses, a studio comprised of DePaul University graduates and Switchblade Monkeys’ Secret Ponchos. However, Indie developers won’t be able to self publish games on the Xbox One. They will need publishers to get their games into the Xbox One.
The PlayStation 4 is much better in this respect as a variety of games, both by publishers and interesting games by Indie developers can be enjoyed by the gamers without any hassles.
6. PS4 is better looking, better named
As a personal opinion, the design of the PS4 is much more pleasing to the eye than the Xbox One. The controller, the console, together form a perfectly harmonious unit which gels well with any surroundings you put it in.
Moreover, the name PlayStation 4 sticks and provides a proper idea about the generation the console belongs to. Xbox One is a name which can easily be confused by new gamers as being the first console of a brand.
These are our pick of the reasons that make the PS4 a more viable option than the Xbox One. You are welcome to contradict us if you please but we sincerely hope that you agree. Do let us know your views below.
