It is worth mentioning that you should back up your data from time to time, just to ensure that if anything goes wrong, you still have a backup of the data that is important to you.
- Step 1: Take your old Android phone and navigate to Settings. Then select Accounts.
- Step 2: Select the email address for the Google Account that you are planning to use on your new phone or log in to your Google Account if you have not previously.
- Step 3: Select Account Sync or Sync Account, depending on which Android device you are using.
- Step 4: A new page should have opened. On this page, ensure that all of the data you want to transfer is enabled. There are quite a few options, and selecting them will ensure that all of your data is connected to your Google Account.
- Step 5: On your new phone, sign in to your Google Account. This should allow you to automatically sync any of the old data on your old device into your new device.
It makes sense to use your Google Account to back up your data, as it’s needed to actually download apps on your device. Since you already, often, need to sign in to your account anyway, using it as a way to keep your data between phones just makes sense.
