  • Step 1: Highlight the text you would like to convert to Subscript.
  • Step 2: Select Format along the toolbar at the top.
  • Step 3: Select Text and then Subscript.

All of the highlighted text will then become tiny, thus being subscript You can change an entire line of text or just single characters if you’d like. It’s most commonly used for single characters, but it can be useful for adding comments to the bottom of a paragraph or a page.

It’s very easy for you to do! If following the steps takes too much time, you can actually use the shortcut Ctrl+ when an area is highlighted to make the script small. You can then use this a second time to make it go back to the normal text if you need to.

Subscript can be super useful, and it’s a really easy format to learn, and then implement in the future. If you are doing maths or adding in tiny comments or are just a fan of formatting, you should be good to go now that you know how to do subscripts in Google docs.
