Don’t Expect The Nintendo 64 Mini Anytime Soon, Says Nintendo


Stories of an Nintendo 64 Mini console have been floating around for a while now, with some outlets even confirming they knew the in-built games such a console would have.

According to a report from Gaming INTEL, an announcement from Nintendo was ‘imminent,’ but it now seems that’s just not true…

Reggie Fils-Aimé, current President of Nintendo of America, recently told Kotaku: “while consumers may have been anticipating something, we view these as limited time opportunities.

“We’ve also now been very clear that as the consumer looks forward to engaging with our classic content that is going to happen more and more with the subscription service [Nintendo Online].”

When asked if we can expect an N64 Classic, Reggie responded: “I would not ever rule something out but what I can tell you is certainly that’s not in our planning horizon.”

Boo!

The news is going to be sadly received by many – especially as the PlayStation One Classic console’s recently-revealed list of games is pretty underwhelming…

As for the N64 mini, fans were expecting the likes of Zelda, Mario and GoldenEye 007. Looks like we’lll have to keep on dreaming for now…
