This Youtuber has beaten Pewdiepie to become the “world’s most influential gamer”

According to a report released by Forbes, world’s most influential gamer is Mark “Markiplier” Fischback.

Better known as Markplier, the YouTuber who was born in Hawaii has more than 7 billion views in his channel. He has also raised millions of dollar for charity.

PewDiePie

Forbes has released several lists of top influencers in various categories and Markplier has topped their gaming list followed by PewDiePie and VanossGaming.

Clare O’Connor, a Forbes staff writer designated to look at the top influencers franchise said, “These social media power players have managed to monetize not just existing platforms like Instagram and YouTube, but in many cases emerging apps and sites like Musical.ly and Twitch.”

“They’re landing production deals based on their prowess on Vine, the now-defunct video app that forced users to be super creative, with only seconds to make an impact. In some cases, these folks can command seven figures per sponsored campaign,” she added.

Forbes was helped by analytics firm Traackr in measuring reach, resonance, audience size, relevance etc. Social insight platform Captiv8 also helped the leading publication in weighing the post based earnings of the candidates based on the size of their following.

Mari Takahashi

Forbes has done well in preparing this list and has considered only those who create original content. One possible negative about this list could be that the publication opted for influencers who post in English mostly.
Here’s the top 10 list:

  1. Markiplier
  2. PewDiePie
  3. VanossGaming
  4. OMGItsfirefoxx
  5. SSSniperWolf
  6. JackSepticEye
  7. The Diamond Minecart
  8. Tom Cassell
  9. Sky Does Minecraft
  10. Mari Takahashi

Markiplier and Pewdiepie are known to be friends and it’s interesting that some serious competition is brewing between them.
