VR Drinking Game Allows You to Get into Barfights

Not really impressed by the tech demos / games we’ve seen out of VR so far? Are you in the camp that thinks it’s a cool technology overall, but not quite engaging enough to replace your regular boring flat monitor? If you crave a walk on the wild side, “Drunken Bar Fight” for the HTC Vive might not have everything you’re looking for, but you’ll get to smash bottles and punch people in the face in an aggressive rage, if that’s your cup of tea.

Certain genres of gaming seem like a natural fit for VR, and fighting is one of them. Punch-Out style makes more sense than something like Street Fighter, but there’s hasn’t really been that MUST HAVE title yet. This probabally isn’t it, either, but it’s still a fun take on an emerging genre.

VR has been around for decades in one form or another, and it’s finally hitting the point where we can have it in our living rooms, but there’s still a ways to go. In the meantime, there are a lot of fun games (Which can often be classified more as tech demos), but it’s okay to embrace the novelty of new technology. There’s a lot more to this than the 3D glasses for TV trend from a few years ago, VRt changes the core elements of gameplay, rather than just adding a different coat of paint on top.

From people standing around awkwardly trying not to make eye-contact as you start to brawl, to distorted blurry vision as you get further in the bag, there’s a lot of quirky charm to this title.

You can check it out in the following video. You can basically go on a rampage through the bar, lay people out, even send them flying across the room. It makes you wonder if there could be therapeutic uses for something like this, maybe for people with anger management issues to let off steam in a safer way. That could be a really interested branch of the potential of virtual reality.
