Valve agrees to release fan-made Star Wars Battlefront 3 game on Steam as a free download

Good news for Star Wars fans as fan-made Star Wars project called Galaxy in Turmoil might be soon making its way onto Steam. The game is loosely based on Star Wars Battlefront 3.

Valve has already approved the project to be released on Steam and to make things better, the game will be completely free to download. The game is being made by a Russian studio called Frontwire Studios and it feels it might not get embroiled in a legal battle with Disney since they are releasing the game for free on Steam.

By Steam agreeing to ship Galaxy in Turmoil we are not only adding more validation and awareness to the project by opening up the game to a whole new audience, we’re also cementing Frontwire Studios’ reputation as an up and coming developer with the opportunity to now publish our games on Steam in the future.

The game is being made using Unreal Engine 4 and was previously titled “Project Rebuild (FRD) BF3″. The studio also plans to release DLC for the game after its release, free of cost.

In case you didn’t know, there was an official game made by Lucasarts called Star Wars: Battlefront 3, and it had completed almost 99% of development work before the project was canned completely due to various reasons.
