When a game is already considered to be one of the sexist games of all time BEFORE you install the “Extra Thick” mod, you know you’re in for an experience.
Haydee, developed in Russia, is a mix of genres, here’s how it is described on Steam:
“Haydee” is a hardcore old-style metroidvania mixed with modern-day third person shooter and platformer mechanics. You will controll Haydee – half-human, half-robot character in search of her way out of strange artificial complex full of traps, pain and depression. No casual stuff awaits you. There is no “X to win”. Your gun, your instincts and your logic are your only friends. Don’t drop your guard, conserve ammo and collect items on this long journey. Be vigilant, be sharp, be ready.
This is a very challenging game, and has been well-received overall with very positive reviews. The main character also just so happens to be a very buxom lady, which is at least partly why this game has been getting a lot of attention over the last couple of months.
If you read through the reviews, it’s really a mixed bag. There are people who enjoy the aesthetics, people who don’t like them, but most agree that the game itself is solid, whether they’re turned on or off by the exaggerated visuals.
This game involves a lot of climbing, crouching, and the developers don’t shy away from hitting all the right camera angles.
Before you get too excited, you should remember that Haydee is a robot. Just a heads up.
You’ll need a lot of patience to play this game, some of the mechanics are tricky to master, and it’s definitely got those old-school elements that can be really frustrating.
There are six sections to play through, 160 rooms in total with their own unique challenges to solve. There are no automatic checkpoints, you’ll have to save at save points. Items are all hidden, you’ve got a limited-size inventory, you need medkits to heal, and the game isn’t going to hold your hand.
