Russians are known to be tough but this soldier really took it to another level. Surrounded by ISIS militants, this soldier actually called in an airstrike on himself just to make sure the thugs were killed in the process
The soldier was tasked with directing airstrikes at targets belonging to ISIS near the areas surrounding the city of Palmyra in Syria. Things went south and terrorists surrounded his position.
However, the soldier decided to go out like a hero and called in an airstrike to make sure the ISIS militants ended up being dead.
A Russian spokesperson confirmed this news:
An officer of Russian special operations forces was killed near Palmyra while carrying out a special task to direct Russian airstrikes at Islamic State group targets.
The officer was carrying out a combat task in Palmyra area for a week, identifying crucial IS targets and passing exact coordinates for strikes with Russian planes.
The officer died as a hero, he drew fire onto himself after being located and surrounded by terrorists.
Syrian troops had entered the city last Thursday, which has been under ISIS control since last May. They were aided by Russian warplanes and some ground forces. The troops were able to advance into the city as a result of this joint operation.
Russian officials confirmed that Russian warplanes carried out 146 airstrikes on various targets located in and around the Palmyra region between Wednesday and Sunday.
The soldier is the perfect example of being a hero and not going down without a fight. We salute his bravery.
