PlayStation 4 Version of Need for Speed: Rivals Now a Launch Game

The PlayStation 4 version of the EA racer has been moved up a week to coincide with the console’s launch. Originally it was going to be a staggered release beginning on November 22nd, but EA Community Manager Jesssica Damerst said that the development team worked to make it available on the PS4 in time for launch day.

“The wait for a next-gen games is getting unbearable! And our team at Ghost Games has been pushing themselves to be a part of PlayStation’s big launch day. We’re excited to announce today that Need for Speed Rivals will be a launch title for PS4 in North America on November 15.”

With DriveClub delayed until next year, I can see Sony needing a racing game on day one and therefore pushing EA to get the game ready sooner. It does fill a hole in Sony’s lineup, though it is a multiplatform title, so we’ll see how much it will help in the end. The game does come with Remote Play supported with the PlayStation Vita.

Need for Speed: Rivals will launch for the PlayStation 3 and all current gen platforms on November 19th in North America and November 22nd in Europe.
