Overwatch Porn is Now Being Aggressively Forced Offline

Overwatch has been all over the news for a couple of days now. The game has been riding the hype train much prior to its release. The game has also been involved in some controversies, including women objectification.

Overwatch has also inspired porn videos which are based on the game, made by the fans. It was also found that people searched for Overwatch related porn 817 percent more on Pornhub after the open beta was launched on May 5. This means that people welcomed the move.

However, Blizzard wasn’t interested in the idea and it seems like they are clamping down on Overwatch porn. According to a Redditor named Spornm, he has received a message from Pornhub which stated that his video was removed due a third party notification which calls the materials “infringing.” He also added that apart from him, a lot of other artist’s videos were also removed. The notification mentioned that the copyright was claimed by Irdeto.

Irdeto is company which specializes in securing digital content claims, and it’s likely that Blizzard might have hired them to do the dirty work. Obviously, the company might be doing it on their own but that makes little sense unless Blizzard is paying them to do so.

For those wondering why Blizzard might be keen in wiping off Overwatch porn from the internet, it’s likely the company is doing so because most of the assets used in those videos are either directly copied from the game or bears a close resemblance.

Whatever the reason, it looks like Blizzard isn’t too keen on making Overwatch famous for its porn videos, and wants to keep the focus strictly towards it being a good game, which it certainly is.
