A new Overwatch character will be making its debut soon. The character will be an addition to the support class club, but its abilities are far different than the norm.
Overwatch short, ‘Heroes’
A tweet on the Overwatch Twitter account teased a blueprint of a Biotic Rifle designed by Torbjorn. The rifle is a sniper rile that can heal teammates from a distance. Though the rifle is still technically a weapon, it “is only intended to be used for healing.” You can view the tweet below that shows the blueprint.

The character that will be wielding the rifle isn’t confirmed yet, but rumors are pointing to Sombra, a character that has been surrounded by speculation since the latest Overwatch short, ‘Heroes’ (which you can view above). There have been many hints about Sombra’s character, and it’s even been pointed out by the studio.
“No, it was not strange. We have put a lot of hints, all over the game and out of the game, so I would say it’s about time that people are concerned with who Sombra is. I hope they keep researching more and find more hints that are out there.”
There are also fan theories regarding the new addition, including Sombra being Pharah’s mother and her not being on the good side.
The addition of Sombra will allow players to have a little more variety when choosing a support class, especially since Mercy and Lucio aren’t necessarily fan favorites when it comes to player matches. It should also provide more balanced gameplay.
There aren’t official dates or any confirmed intel as of yet, but we will be sure to update everyone once we hear it.
