It appears that we won’t see Agent 47 in action for a while as for now. According to the LinkedIn profile of Richard Knight, senior game designer for the Hitman franchise, next-gen Hitman has been cancelled last year.
The game was first announced in late 2011. The project was expected to be under Square Enix Montreal’s production. The game was supposed to “re-imagining” of the stealth-action series. And included support for microtransactions and online leaderboards.
Although Square Enix has never formally announced the cancellation of the game, but it was reported in June that the studio would be shifting its focus to mobile development . They are now developing an “unannounced Hitman game” for Android and iOS
