The Last of Us is so popular, it got a quote in new episode of Game of Thrones

The Last of Us is without a doubt one of the most popular games ever made. In fact, it’s so beloved by fans that it was mentioned on the HBO series, Game of Thrones recently.

The seventh season of the novel based drama series made its debut on July 16, 2017. During the first episode, ‘Dragonstone’ fans of the zombie game may have witnessed a reference to The Last of Us. More specifically, at around 22:30, Jaime Lannister tells his sister Cersei Lannister ‘We’re the last of us‘.

Many thought that this was just a coincidence. However, the producer and writer of Game of Thrones, David Benioff confirmed us that the mention of the game was intentional.

According to him, many fans of both the video game and the TV series believe that Joel and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau who is the actor behind Jaime Lannister look alike. That led him to include the nod to the game.

Apart from that, a Last of Us based movie may be coming soon. With that being said, it is interesting to see if Nikolaj Coster-Waldau will be considered for Joel’s role in the film.

In case you haven’t played the game already, you should consider it. It is an action-adventure survival horror game that was developed by Naughty Dog back in 2013 for the PlayStation 3. PlayStation 4 users on the other side can get their hands on the remastered version of the game for as little as $19.99.

Sony has teased us with a small cinematic trailer of The Last of Us 2 which was announced at PlayStation Experience back in 2016. It wasn’t mentioned on E3 2017 but fans are anticipating to hear more about it in the upcoming PlayStation Experience 2017.
