There is beauty in simplicity. Buddy- the game chair- is the latest gaming innovation to come out of Japan. Astonishingly, the chair isn’t the best thing since sliced bread because of any crazy technical specs, huge speakers, or automatic snack-dispensing mechanisms- it’s so amazing because it solves three of modern console gaming‘s biggest problems in one swoop.
The incredibly simple design of Buddy makes it incredibly versatile. Upon first inspection, Buddy is just a minimalist ergonomic gaming chair- really nothing special. However, with just a few adjustments to the body of Buddy, it changes into a forward facing chair. The design allows the gamer to sit like he or she is riding a pocket rocket motorcycle. Gamers can lean forward towards the TV in an active, ergonomic, and incredibly comfortable position.
I personally have terrible gaming posture because I hunch myself towards the TV when I play. Buddy solves that- I can lean forwards and still be supported without having to hunch. It’s also a great deal cheaper than most gaming chairs. Each chair only costs around $60. Even though they may be lacking in technology, Buddy chairs are the future. Hopefully the next version of Buddy will include standards like surround sound speakers.
