Head of Xbox Phil Spencer Reveals First-Play of 4K Xbox Scorpio

Head of Xbox Phil Spencer revealed that he has played the Scorpio (Microsoft’s upcoming console) for the first time. The Scorpio team presented him with an early version of the final console (which rumor says Microsoft will release Christmas of this year) just a few days ago and he’s one of the first person to get a chance to play it.

According to Spencer, the console is running incredibly well at this point in the production process.

We don’t know a ton about this upcoming console yet, but there are some rumors, along with calculated preditions, based on what we’ve been told by Microsoft at this point.

It’s believed that this console will be more expensive than we’re used to, and that it’ll come out this holiday season. It will likely be the most powerful home console of all time.

It’s rumored that all Xbox One games and peripherals will also work on Scorpio, and that it’s going to be a full blown new console, not an in-between iteration like the One S or PS4 Pro.

It has been confirmed that the Xbox Scorpio will support native 4K resolution.

“People who have spent thousands of dollars on a high-end PC are getting that experience. How do we bring that to scale in a console in your living room? That’s a big part of what Project Scorpio is about.” said the head of Marketing for Microsoft, Aaron Greenberg.

Speculation says that the Scorpio could be up to five times as powerful as the Xbox One, but time will tell. They’ll surely have a huge reveal at this year’s E3, and we’ll keep you updated with any new information that drops before that.
