Half Life 3 poster spotted at Gamescom but there’s a outrageous reason for it

A sequel to Valve’s Half-Life 2 is now embedded in the deep hollows of gaming mythology. The list of “leaks” involving the reveal of Half-Life 3 seems to never end. Will it ever return to our desks and screens? Does it really even exist? Well there’s definitely a poster of it at Gamescom right now. However, it’s probably not exactly what you were hoping for. Check it out below.

The large poster, which was spotted by members of the games media at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, stands tall in bold and blazing orange. It’s very eye-catching, indeed. It stands next to other big titles such as Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs 2 and EA’s Titanfall. However, both of those games are a little different in comparison to the Half-Life poster; They’re real, while Half-Life 3 is not.

Somebody cleverly created the poster to be a bit of fun instead of promoting a real game. It has been paid for by a media company who wished to inject a little humour into the proceedings at Gamescom. What the poster actually states – translated from German – is “Half-Life: 3 Editors who Played it Back Then.” Very sneaky.

The advertisement seems to have been paid for by spieletipps and GIGA games. They certainly know how to amp up gamer’s anticipations and fan-fueled expectations (not to mention utter disappointment).

There’s been no real concrete evidence that Half-Life 3 has been in development. There’s more to suggest that Left for Dead 3 may actually be Valve’s current priority, but who knows? When the gaming heavens open up, something like Half-Life 3 is destined to drop to earth and into the hands of Valve’s fans.
