Working in the video games industry is often not as fun as it seems to some individuals. Especially in the industry of selling video games themselves. It would seem that working around video games would make the job constantly fun and engaging – not to mention the bonus of a killer discount).
Well, contrary to those beliefs is the data from financial commentary website 24/7 Wall Street that suggests GameStop, the massive U.S video games retailer, is actually one of the worst companies to work for in the whole country. When the website posted a list of “Americas Worst Companies to Work For,” GameStop clocked in at 10 out of a list of 11.
The list was based on data gathered from Glassdoor, an online community dedicated to job and employer reviews. Other tech chains such as Radio Shack and Sears also scored very low in the list.
GameStop is apparently notably complained against for prioritizing sales over customer service and not appropriately looking after their staff. They have also been subjected to controversy about their unfair returns policies.
