Facebook just did this Amazing thing for the 30th Birthday of the GIF file

The comment section is about to become more animated. Facebook added GIF support 2 years ago, but recently added a button to allow users to directly post GIF’s without having to use external links.

Facebook’s GIF button pulls GIF’s from different services like GIPHY, and allows you to search through their vast libraries of animated content. The move was seen to coincide with the 30th birthday of the GIF, an animate image file format introduced by Compuserve in 1987.

Many users are now requesting a GIF button for the newsfeed.
