Exciting New God Of War 4 Details Emerge About The Game and Kratos

Missed out on seeing any info about God of War 4 at the recent PlayStation Experience? You’re not alone. It was a surprising omission, but we’ve got some new info to tide you over.

Earlier this year we reported that Santa Monica Studios were working on their next PS4 title, which has since been officially announced.

If you haven’t been keeping up to date, let’s get you caught up quickly. It’s believed that God of War 4 will act as a soft-reboot to the series, and will feature Norse Mythology rather than Greek. He’s already smashed all of the Greek gods, so now no mythologies are safe. Kratos is still the main character, but now he’s also got a son. Kratos can go hunting for food with his son, and glimpses into the combat make it look like God of War could be returning to some of its roots from the earlier titles.

Originally, people saw the appearance of Kratos’ son as a sign that this game would have multiplayer, but that is not the case. No multiplayer for God of War 4.

We don’t have a release date yet, and Sony has said that they plan on being more careful with release dates moving forward, but as soon as more information is available we’ll keep you posted. It’s unclear if God of War 4 will have support for VR.

Cory Barlog, the Creative Director at Sony Computer Entertainment’s Santa Monica Studio, took to Twitter to reveal some key information about God of War 4.

Fans were worried the game would be delayed after noticing job postings from Santa Monica Studio that were recruiting people to help finish theĀ game. However, Barlog re-assured that things were on schedule, and the extra people weren’t brought in because the game was behind schedule, but rather to help them complete the game even sooner.

The game is nearly finished shooting, but it’s unclear how much work is really left to do.

They’ve also chosen a name for Kratos’ son:

In addition, Kratos and his son will be together for most of the game. The keyword here is “most”, which hints that there will be certain points where they’re separated. You may have to play as the son in order to rescue his father. We’ll see soon enough…
