Tim Schafer, head of Double Fine, announced that the development studio recently has cancelled an unannounced IP and with it a few employees had been laid off. Find out what exactly happened and what this means for the rest of the IP’s Double Fine is currently in-development with.
According to Tim Schafer, an unannounced project was forced to be cancelled after a publisher has decided to not go through with the project. It’s unknown what publisher was supposedly dealing with this unannounced project nor do we have any news as to what the project was based around.
Furthermore, the project that was cancelled also lead to 12 employees to receive layoffs. Apparently, the projects currently in-development which are Broken Age, Massive Chalice and Grim Fandango Remastered are not affected. We will continue to see those projects upon completion. Though we’re certainly curious as to what that project was set to be before cancellation!
