Reputable gaming informer Shinobi602 has confirmed that 2K are going to be bringing out a Bioshock collection, along with the already confirmed new Bioshock title being developed by 2K Marin.
In a segment on Youtube channel MrMattyPlays, Shinobi stated that he had information confirming that the collection is definitely in the work:
“Oh that’s happening. It’s just, yeah I was kind of surprised too, when they put out that earnings call…..”
Shinobi also stated that further information may arise at E3 (although very unlikely) regarding both the already officially confirmed Bioshock game and the collection. With the bill at E3 for 2K already including Mafia III and Civilisation VI, it seems like it would be an excessive push to expect anything of substance about either the Bioshock collection or the upcoming game.
Other information Shinobi had accrued indicated that the collection wouldn’t be released by the end of this year. This surprised Shinobi, as he thinks there’s no good reason why it shouldn’t be released if it’s in a completed state.
Postulating upon it further, the collection is probably tied into the release of the upcoming Bioshock title, much like the Shadow of Colossus and Ico collection and The Last Guardian. Hopefully, the new Bioshock won’t take nearly a decade to be finished.
So it looks like there probably won’t be any further information regarding the Bioshock franchise appearing at E3. However, we do now have definite information that a collection is in the works, and that along with the news 2K Marin are working on the next title, Bioshock is far from dead, and we’re bound to find out some official information in the near future. Keep an eye out, Rapture fans. The fun’s not done yet.
