Bethesda announced the remastered version of The Elder Scrolls Skyrim at E3 this year. The game is titled The Elder Scrolls Skyrim: Special Edition, and will see the light of the day in the final quarter of this year. The Elder Scrolls Skyrim was one of the most requested games for a remaster before its announcement.

The progress of The Elder Scrolls Skyrim: Special Edition seems great as it is looking awesome. Bethesda vice president, Pete Hines, said on Twitter that a lot of effort is being put into game as it is not easy to remaster a game of Skyrim‘s size thoroughly for the new hardware.
Hines added that The Elder Scrolls Skyrim: Special Edition will consist all the DLCs that were released for the original game at launch, and it won’t have any new DLC. However, with mods being available even to the console players now, there shouldn’t be any shortage of content.

Talking about the mods, Hines mentioned that a discussion to make a Creation Kit is underway for the upcoming game, which they plan to release before the game. The confirmation, however is not made yet.
The Elder Scrolls Skyrim: Special Edition is scheduled to release on PS4, Xbox One, and PC this October.
Here are some tweets where Pete Hines replies some of the fans.

@matthewthomasw2 it’s a lot more work than you think bringing a game this size/scope to a new console.
