Assassin’s Creed 3 goes free and crashes Ubisoft servers in the process

Assasins Creed 3 bug

Assassin’s Creed 3 is free on PC for the next month for Ubisoft’s 30th anniversary giveaway. 30 years is a hell of a lot of time to be in the business of making games, and AC3 is 4 years old itself. They’ve done a pretty good job, but are apparently experiencing server load issues due to the massive demand for the free copy of AC3.

Here’s how to get a free Ubisoft game every month.

The game is available from the publishers Uplay service Ubisoft Club and the promotion runs for 1 more month. What can you expect when you give a ravenous bunch of broke gamers access to a free premium title. Assassin’s Creed 3 was set during the American revolution and received many positive reviews from critics when initially released.

In a weird unrelated but sort of related issue, customers who claimed their free copy of Assassin’s Creed 3 noticed that Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag was simply disappearing from their accounts. Chants of WTF bro have been heard echoing from the chambers of would-be assassin’s around the world. Ubisoft has been doing these giveways every month since summer and also gave away Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Splinter Cell, Rayman Origins, The Crew, and Beyond Good and Evil.
